is anybody out there??

Not sure if anyone is still listening, but that is totally ok. I am using this pretty much for myself. So on Thursday I ran in a little road race (4.2 miles). I didn't think it would be that competitive until I showed up and everyone was really ready to run. I pretty much ran my heart out (in the rain). My goal at the starting line was to run in under 40 minutes. I ran it in 38:07 and I felt really good! Afterwords they had a beer tent, food, and a band playing. I ended up having a beer by myself. I guess I was hoping someone would talk to me (wow I sound pathetic). I just pretended that I was looking for a friend (loser). All in all I had a great time and was really happy and proud of myself that I followed through with it.

Saturday I went to a modern strength and conditioning class with my Meggy. It is put on by the Office for the Arts at Harvard. She is in the know about this class because she is a dancer and just recently got accepted in the Mainly Jazz Company (woot woot!!). The class was really tough- lots of squats, lunges, etc. I am excited to build some muscle though- no matter how much it hurts!

I am signing up for the Boston Half on October 10th to help out with the marathon training. Wish meeeeeeeeeee luck!!

Slacking Off

Okay, I am not going to lie. I have been slacking off the past few weeks. For the two weeks that I was on program I didn't run or do yoga. I pretty much worked and worked and by the time I got home I was too tired to get my body moving. I know that is not an excuse. So I started my running again. So far I have run on Saturday, Monday, and I will run today after work. I also did yoga on Tuesday and it felt fantastic.

So this morning I woke up at 4:00 am in a sweat about this marathon. I only have two months and I am debating whether or not I should defer until next year. I spoke to a friend today who might have possibly changed my mind- he assured me that I could do it and that it would be a good challenge.

So I will keep you all posted....

Happy Running,

Nina

A VT Weekend

So this past weekend I went to Stowe, VT with the girls for some r & r. We stayed at the Stowe Mountain Lodge and had a great two days there. We had our own private yoga lesson and spent a couple of hours at the hot tub, hot and bubbly, steam room, rain shower, etc. It was a great way to get out of the city to relax :)

So about my training- I went for a run yesterday (4 miles) and felt really good. I think that the yoga is really helping me become a stronger runner. I really need to mentally start preparing myself for this marathon. I know that it is on my mind because I am having dreams about it. The other night I had a dream that it was the day of the race and I wasn't feeling prepared at all. I didn't know where the start line was and I had about a million bags to carry (not really sure why I had so much stuff). Anyway (this one is for you mom), I will keep you posted on more of the training.

5 miles tonight??

Baseball

So Tuesday night I skipped a night of exercise to go to the Red Sox game with some coworkers. Not sure if you saw my facebook post so I may be repeating myself with this silly story. We ended up getting seats right next to the Cleveland Indians dugout so we had a great view of the players. I started to make eyes with the catcher (later finding out that his name was Lou Marson). So at the end of the game (after the big fight) I went up to the fence and asked for a ball. He looked through his bag- no ball. He then asked another player for the ball and threw it to me. Imagine if I didn't catch it?? Anyways, that was the highlight of my night :)

To make up for my beer drinking and hot dog eating night I decided that hot yoga would be a good choice for the next night. Again- I had another great class and am ready to run tonight! I need to start upping my mileage! The marathon is really coming up!

Bachelorette

Last night was another night of hot yoga. I felt really good! I felt stronger than last time and really pushed myself. When it was over though I busted a move out of the studio so that I could make it home in time for the finale of the Bachelorette. I am so sad that is over! It made my Mondays much more fun! I will just have to move on to the new show, "Bachelor Pad." Okay I don't really know what else to write. I am tired and can't think.

Work It

So this is a little late, but I am reporting out on my Saturday morning run. I have designated Saturday and maybe Sunday to be my long day runs. I dedicated myself to do 5 miles (no more and no less). I got up, ate some grape nuts with blueberries, got dressed, filled my waterbottle with my new gatorade :), and headed out. I have to say I felt reallllllllllllly great running. The weather was gorgeous and I guess I was excited for my day. I was really looking forward to getting my nails did and then heading to Providence RI with Heather and Jasleen for some Water Fire action. Maybe that is why I ran so well???? Anyways, the run went very well. I felt strong and confident! I actually did the run/walk method. Ran for 10 minutes, walked for 1. I am thinking of doing this during the marathon.

Just a side note- I needed to share this story with all. So on Friday (I took a day off from work) Megan and I went to lay out on Cambridge Library lawn. We like this spot because there is great people watching, but also dog watching too. It is fun to see all of the dogs run around, play, etc. From across the lawn I spotted a cute, black, hot-dog dog. I called over to his owner to see if Megan and I could come and pet him. The owner looks over at us, waves his hand and head back and forth. NO. He said NO! Who does that????? I was pissed. I don't think I am over it. Thank you for tuning in!

Grape Nuts

I lied when I said that I would have to sacrifice going out with my coworkers to go running. I was able to do both today! Now this can't happen all of the time. I had a glass of wine, chatted with the ladies, came home, and went for my run. The run could have been better if I didn't drink- I learned my lesson. However, I did like running later in the evening because it was cooler :)

Now I am sitting on the couch eating Grape Nuts with blueberries. The last time I had Grape Nuts was in high school. I specifically remember my brother eating them. We would always laugh because he crunched on them so loud. We were such brats. Aimee- do you remember this?
